  18. <p>     Strangers come up to Patricia Wettig these days and ask,
  19. "How do you feel?" Actress Wettig is fine; it's the character
  20. she plays on ABC's thirtysomething who isn't. Millions of fans
  21. feel like close friends of the program's yuppies, who've been
  22. criticized for their incessant whining. Now the show's taking
  23. a solemn turn: Nancy has learned she has ovarian cancer. "Why
  24. my character was chosen for this, I don't know," says Wettig.
  25. "She had already gone through a lot." What will happen next?
  26. No one is saying, and even Wettig is unsure of Nancy's fate.
