- <p> Strangers come up to Patricia Wettig these days and ask,
- "How do you feel?" Actress Wettig is fine; it's the character
- she plays on ABC's thirtysomething who isn't. Millions of fans
- feel like close friends of the program's yuppies, who've been
- criticized for their incessant whining. Now the show's taking
- a solemn turn: Nancy has learned she has ovarian cancer. "Why
- my character was chosen for this, I don't know," says Wettig.
- "She had already gone through a lot." What will happen next?
- No one is saying, and even Wettig is unsure of Nancy's fate.
